Autoclave for cyclic testing of flat metal test specimens at defined temperature and pressure

Autoclave for cyclic testing of flat metal test specimens at defined temperature and pressure

The autoclave enables cyclic testing of flat metal specimens at precisely defined temperatures and pressures in corrosive environments, which is crucial for testing materials for harsh environment applications such as nuclear reactors. The equipment features a resealable pressure vessel with an internal built-in jaw to hold the static jaw, and a movable rod with a second jaw, allowing cyclic loading of the specimen. In addition, the autoclave is designed to simulate the ambient environment through the supply and discharge of the test medium, which includes temperature and pressure control to ensure the relevance of the test results. This innovative design facilitates the testing of the resistance of metallic materials to corrosion and fatigue cracking.

Parameters

  • Maximum operating pressure: up to 12 MPa
  • Allows control of jaw spacing for cyclic loading
  • 0.018% boric acid environment at a temperature of at least 350 °C
  • Interfacing with external force gauge and actuator for controlled sample deformation
  • Specimen shape is an adaptation of the well-known 0.5T-CT standard for SCC (Stress Corrosion Cracking) and FCG (Fatigue Crack Growth) testing

Other

  • Equipped with a through-hole measuring port for DCPD (Direct Current Potential Drop) electrodes
  • Possibility to measure with COD (Clip Opening Displacement) extensometer

The utility model with the internal designation VFU1900004 was created within the national project OP PIK APLIKACE in the 1st call. This project entitled "Development of a new generation of linear stepper drives for new units of VVER 1200 (1000) reactors" was funded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT).
